Falling Back in Love with My Future Murderer: K-Drama Review of Marry My Husband

Have you ever wondered what you'd do if you could travel back in time and change your past? Would you make different choices in love, school, or work? Try to get rich in the stock market? Or maybe take revenge on someone who did you wrong?

That tantalizing premise is at the heart of the new smash hit Korean revenge drama "Marry My Husband." It's a show that blends time travel, business schemes, and love triangles into an absolutely addictive mix.

Let's break down the plot, characters, and some early standout moments:

A Murderous Affair Sends a Woman Back in Time

Our protagonist is Ji-won, a likable office worker played with charm by actress Park Min-young. In the hard-hitting opening scenes, Ji-won makes a horrific discovery - her husband Min-hwan is having an affair with her best friend, Su-min.

Things go from bad to worse when Ji-won overhears Min-hwan and Su-min plotting to profit from her recent cancer diagnosis. A struggle ensues, and Ji-won is tragically killed after hitting her head.

But in a twist of fate, Ji-won miraculously wakes up...10 years in the past! Now knowing her husband will eventually murder her, she decides to get revenge by making him marry Su-min instead.

(I don't know about you, but this had me absolutely hooked right from the start. I'm a sucker for a juicy revenge plot!)

Ji-won Sets Her Devious Plans in Motion

Having gone back to simpler times, Ji-won sees Min-hwan again for the first time. Understandably freaked out, she pepper sprays him and makes a run for it!

It's an electrifying scene - imagine seeing your killer walking around free. Soon Ji-won realizes she has a chance to alter her destiny.

First things first, she breaks up with Min-hwan to prevent them from having a future together. But as a savvy woman, Ji-won also knows she needs financial security.

In a fun montage, we see her investing in companies she knows will succeed thanks to her knowledge of the future. Go girl!

(This was such a gratifying sequence. Who hasn't dreamed of using time travel for some personal gain?)

By the episode's end, Ji-won resolves to push Su-min and Min-hwan together, transferring all the misery onto her backstabbing friend. Juicy stuff!

A Buff Department Head Takes an Interest in Ji-won

While scheming for the future, Ji-won also draws the attention of Yoo Ji-hyuk, a handsome executive at her company played by actor Na In-woo. He sees potential in Ji-won and helps her navigate office politics.

And despite memories of her murder flashing through her mind, you can't help but notice some romantic tension between Ji-won and Ji-hyuk. I'll be keeping an eye on this possible second lead romance!

(Na In-woo has an easy charisma that makes you root for his character. I think he'd pair nicely with Park Min-young if the show decides to explore things further.)

One Event Remains the Same, Another Diverges

As the first two episodes close, Ji-won makes an intriguing discovery about her unique situation.

Certain fated events like an injury she sustains still play out exactly the same as before. But other things like a stock trade she makes end up going to someone else instead.

So while fate seems to correct some outcomes, there's also room for Ji-won's actions to make an impact!

This presents so many exciting possibilities. Will Ji-won succeed in altering her destiny over time? Can she avoid being killed again somehow? My head was spinning with theories!

Wrapping Up the Premiere

With only a few broad strokes, Marry My Husband manages to establish an addictive world that blends wish fulfillment, watercooler drama, and tragedy.

Park Min-young is already in top form as our fiercely determined heroine, while actors Na In-woo and Lee Yi-Kyung ooze more subtle menace as the men who could make or break Ji-won's future.

And this is only the beginning - there are 14 juicy episodes left! I have a feeling the clever writing will keep shocking and delighting us each week before building to what's sure to be an epic and emotional climax.
